Follow-Up After Blood Tests

Once your blood test is completed, your sample will be sent to different laboratories. The time it takes for results to return may vary.

You will receive your results by email, along with an explanation for any abnormal findings. Please read these comments carefully, as they may include important instructions, such as:

- Starting treatment or supplements
- Repeating urine or blood tests
- Booking an appointment with your GP

It is your responsibility to ensure these instructions are followed.

Some specialised tests may take longer to return—up to 3–6 weeks. These include:

- Virology
- Vitamin D
- Testosterone
- AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone)

If you have not received your results within one week for routine tests, please:

Check your email spam/junk folder.
If they are not there, email gpdocmc@pm.me so the reception team can resend them.

Important: All results are encrypted. To open them, you will need your date of birth in the format DDMMYYYY.

GP Referral for Imaging (Ultrasound, MRI, CT, etc.)

GP Referral for Imaging

Most GP referrals for scans are sent electronically.

Waiting times:

Public hospital: 6 months – 1 year
Private hospital or imaging centre: 1 week – 3 months (varies by scan type and location)
You must contact the hospital or imaging centre directly to arrange your appointment.

Please double check with your insurance provider if you are fully covered or partially covered by the location of scanning before confirming your appointments.

Getting Your Images:

If you need a copy of your scan images, inform the imaging radiographer at your appointment so they can give you a link or DVD.

GPs do not receive scan images — you must request them directly from the imaging centre.

Results:

GPs usually receive the written scan report around 1 week after the scan.
Reports are emailed to you as a PDF, encrypted with your date of birth (DDMMYYYY).

You will also receive an explanation for any abnormal findings. Please read these carefully — they may include:

- Starting treatment or supplements
- Repeating scans at a scheduled interval (per radiologist advice)
- Booking a GP appointment
- Referral to another hospital or specialist

It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to follow these instructions.

If you have not received your results within 1 week after the scan date:

Check your email spam/junk folder
If not there, email gpdocmc@pm.me so the reception team can resend them
If the reception team confirms the GP has not received your results, you must contact the imaging centre directly to request they send them

Re-referrals:

If you need a re-referral, please specify exactly which hospital it should be sent to and email gpdocmc@pm.me.

We can make one change free of charge, but if you require multiple changes, you will be advised to book a review appointment with a GP to arrange this.
